Skills & Work programming includes economic empowerment projects focused on helping on men and women become independent and successful in their communities through efforts including vocational training, financial literacy, economic sustainability and entrepreneurship.
- Provide financial literacy
Financial education should be a continuous process, right from childhood to adulthood. Unfortunately, not even our learning institutions seem to recognize this fact. We tend to assume that people will somehow learn about money on their own. There needs to be a paradigm shift when it comes to financial literacy. Well, the importance of financial literacy for our youth cannot be overemphasized. There’s nothing as dangerous as a financially illiterate youth. Someone who doesn’t have an idea on how to manage their finances can easily fall into various financial traps unknowingly.
To sum it up, youth financial literacy is very important, it teaches on budgeting, saving, avoiding expenditures. It provies empowerment on how to invest and create wealth. Financial literacy prevents from making poor financial decisions, because they understand the value of money. A person’s youth is a critical stage in life. The mistakes that you make as a youth will have a great impact on your adult life. If proper education on money is provided at this stage, then we are bound to have a financially responsible adult generation. - Women empowerment workshop

- Shelter for homeless
We care for those who are most vulnerable and in need for housing. We care for homeless Veterans, for families devastated by addiction or mental health problems, for those with housing vouchers, and for those who, through no fault of their own have lost their job, their income, their health insurance. Through Partnership with Social Service Department and Case Managers we will be able to assist our clients in achieving their Personal Improvement Plan, which enables them to accomplish their short and long-term goals. In addition, clients are exposed to the wide range of social services that are available. We offer classes on budget management, offer substance abuse and mental health counseling and have an employment specialist who works with clients who are willing to take advantage of this opportunity to turn their lives around. - Gang involvement protection and violence
Some children and adolescents are motivated to join a gang for a sense of connection or to define a new sense of who they are. Others are motivated by peer pressure, a need to protect themselves and their family, because a family member also is in a gang, or to make money.
One of the worst effects of gang membership is the exposure to violence. Gang members may be pressured to commit a crime to become part of the gang. Consequences of gang membership may include exposure to drugs and alcohol, age-inappropriate sexual behavior, difficulty finding a job because of lack of education and work skills, removal from ones family, imprisonment and even death.
Risk factors that can contribute to the risk that children and adolescents join a gang include:
Prevention programs target youth at risk of gang involvement and help reduce the number of youth who join gangs. Intervention programs and strategies provide sanctions and services for younger youth who are actively involved in gangs to push them away from gangs.
DON’T LET THIS BE YOUR PAST! END GANG LIFE
- Mental Health Wellness
It is normal for children and youth to experience various types of emotional distress as they develop and mature. For example, it is common for children to experience anxiety about school, or youth to experience short periods of depression that are transient in nature. When symptoms persist, it may be time to seek professional assistance.
Despite these challenges, for most youth, mental health distress is episodic, not permanent, and most can successfully navigate the challenges that come from experiencing a mental health disorder with treatment, peer and professional supports and services, and a strong family and social support network.

- Children with Disability
Children with disabilities often work hard to accommodate themselves to an inaccessible world that excludes them. But they are not problems that need to be fixed or changed. Disability is part of the diversity of human experience: Functional limitations manifest in the life cycle of every one of us. The extent to which children with disabilities are able to lead happy lives depends on our own willingness to confront barriers to change.
A range of barriers limits their ability to function in daily life, access social services (like education and health care) and engage in their communities. These include:
- Physical barriers – for example, buildings, transportation, toilets and playgrounds that cannot be accessed by wheelchair users
- Communication and information barriers – such as textbooks unavailable in Braille, or public health announcements delivered without sign language interpretation
- Attitudinal barriers – like stereotyping, low expectations, pity, condescension, harassment and bullying
